Netbook Sales Contribute 30% of Europe Laptop Sales in the 3rd Quarter of 2008

Netbook surge in the laptop market continues. Reports out in the media reveal that sales of mini-notebooks or netbooks contribute to 30% of the total laptop sales in Europe during the last quarter of 2008. According to market watcher IDC, in the last quarter of 2008, 3.6 million mini-notebooks were sold in Europe in which 80 percent were sold in Western Europe. Acer and Asus are leading the netbook market of Europe. Acer grabs 30.3% market share, followed by Asus with 28% share of the netbook market. IDC thinks that netbook market will continue to grow in 2009 and the demand for netbooks with larger screens will also be increasing this year.
