I have to say it more than once that I’m not a big fan of Windows Vista. I loved and still like XP. That’s why, I got mixed feeling that with the news that Windows 7 Beta or perform that both windows vista and Windows XP. A test was carried out by Adrian Kingsley-Hughe of Zdnet and he used two computers running on AMD and Intel. 23 test were carried out and I am giving here some of them:
1. Install OS - Time it takes to install the OS
2. Boot up - Average boot time to usable desktop
3. Shut down - Average shut down time
4. Move 100MB files - Move 100MB of JPEG files from one hard drive to another
5. Move 2.5GB files - Move 2.5GB of mixed size files (ranging from 1MB to 100MB) from one hard drive to another
And the verdict is that Windows 7 Beta is better than the other two. So, I am now eagerly waiting for the real 7. What is fascnicating to see is that Adrian Kingsley-Hughe did not go for any benchmark test. Instead, he did something raw and something that most people can easily understand.
