It didn’t take more than one day from the day HP announced this laptop, the folks from two websites could have their hands on HP Mini 2140 netbook and has given a very nice picture from it in their websites. Here I am giving a rundown of the pros and cons (advantages and disadvantages) of Mini 2140 briefly. If you like, you can read the whole reviews in laptop magazine and computer shopper.

The folk could have their hands on the HP Mini 2140 with the price tag of $529 that featuring 1.6GHz Atom CPU, 1GB of RAM, 160GB HDD (5400 rpm), 802.11a/b/g/n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 10-in display with 1024 X 576 resolution and Wind XP Home OS.

The write thinks that “This affordable, business-class netbook offers long battery life, durability, and a first-rate keyboard.”

(Pros):
- Durable chassis (all-aluminum lid and the magnesium alloy chassis is similar to the original 2133 Mini-Note
)
- The thickness of this mini laptop (1.1-inch thick) is comparable with the 8.9-inch netbooks like Dell Mini 9.

- Spacious, comfortable keyboard (92 percent of a full-size keyboard and the key are 50 times more resistant than those on a standard keyboard

- Fast recharging times (90 percent of battery within 90 minutes
)
- Six-cell battery provides more than 7 hours runtime
- The Express Card slot opens the hands of the users who want to add 3G connectivity to their mini laptop.
- Stereo speakers are loud.

(Cons):
-16:9 aspect ratio limits on-screen text
-Poorly placed mouse buttons
-Underside gets warm (yet cooler than 2133)
- With 6-cell battery (3.0 pounds) is heaver than other 10-inch netbooks with 6-cell battery like Samsung NC10 (2.8 pounds)

Benchmark result:
-3DMark06: 125 which is better than the scores of Eee PC 12002HA and Samsung NC10.
-Boot time: 57 sec- slightly better than the average of netbooks’ boot time.

-The 2140’sTransfer Test (15.8 MBps.) is better than the average of netbooks’ (13.2 MBps)
-Laptop battery for 6-cell lasts about 7 hours and 19 minutes and for 3-cell lasts about 3 hours and half.

-Noticeably smaller than other 10-inch netbooks;
-Active hard drive protection (HP’s 3D DriveGuard)
- Adding 54mmExpress cord slot to the typical ports and slot selection for netbooks
- Ability of using Express card mobile broadband card


(Cons):
-Small text not reproduced as dark black on screen;
- The current 1,024x576 on this mini laptop is lower than 1,024x600 resolution used in Eee PC 1002HA and Samsung NC10
-Below-average battery life


Benchmark result:
-Cinebench 9.5 test: 133 and 815 on Cinebench 10 both are average result for a win-based Netbook.
-Windows Media Encoder 9 test: 27 min and 11 sec
-iTune test: 22 min and 35 sec
-Three-cell battery runtime: 2 hours and 13 minutes (below average of netbooks with 3-cell)

    So which site has the correct battery life? Does the 3 cell run for 3 and a half hours or two hours and thirteen minutes?
