HP Pavilion dv2 and the announcement of the HP Pavilion laptop and dv3 Firebird Desktop

HP today announced three multimedia laptops and desktop computer including thin and light ultra-portable 12.1-inch Pavilion dv2 and 13.3-in Pavilion dv3 laptops and HP Firebird Desktop PC with Voodoo DNA.

HP Pavilion dv2 measuring just under 1-inch thick and starting at 3.8 pounds is an AMD-based portable multimedia laptop.
The system comes with 12.1-inch diagonal LED BrightView display, AMD Athlon Neo Processor-based platform, high-capacity hard drive options up to 500GB, discrete graphics, and a full range of connectivity options such as optional built-in WWAN for wireless and HP Webcam and microphone.

I am afraid the laptop doesn’t provide an internal optical drive. So the users have to arrange the external optical drive. The laptop can support optical disc drive with Blu-ray capability, as well.

The good news is that the laptop is very sturdy because of magnesium casing and fashionable due to two striking finishes with matching HP Imprint designs on the palm rest: Espresso and Moonlight.

The HP Pavilion dv2 is expected to be available in the United States in April with a starting price of $699.

HP Pavilion dv3 starting at 4.35 pounds is a multimedia laptop based on the AMD Turio Ultra X2 notebook platform.

The system corporates a 13.3-inch diagonal LED BrightView backlit display and a built-in SuperMulti DVD player optical drive (contrary to Pavilion dv2).

The laptop features 5-in-1 media card reader, an HP Mobile Remote control, SRS Premium Sound, Optional solid state and optional lighter weight and a backlight keyboard for working in low light.

The HP Pavilion dv3 is available for ordering today in the United States at www.hpdirect.com with a starting price of $799.

HP explains about other facilities thatdv2 and dv3 offer in its press prelease:

Both the dv2 and dv3 feature magnesium casing for lightweight durability and HP ProtectSmart Hard Drive Protection for protection from data loss. Both also come standard with HP MediaSmart software that lets customers enjoy photos, listen to music and watch Internet TV or movies in high-definition, including video content from MTV Networks television channels such as Comedy Central and Nickelodeon. The PC series also are ENERGY STAR qualified and EPEAT Silver registered.

HP Firebird with Voodoo DNA: the successor to the award-winning HP Blackbird 002 desktop PC, designed for photo and video editing, music creation, gaming and other demanding tasks.

Features of the HP Firebird include its sleek design with the iconic elevated chassis, which not only echoes the aggressive style of the HP Blackbird 002, but aids in cooling. Its Intel Core 2 Quad processor, dual NVIDIA GeForce 9800S small form factor graphics cards in SLI configuration and hot-swappable 320 GB dual hard drives provide customers with performance-grade operation.

The HP Firebird with Voodoo DNA will be available online at www.voodoopc.com on Jan. 9 starting at $1,799. Customers also can purchase the product in select retail stores nationwide starting on Feb 1.
