For many years, AMD is fighting perhaps a losing battle against Intel in the processor market. Intel consistently has 3 or 4 times more market share than AMD. In this age, the battle is mainly in the laptop field as desktop PCs are not having healthy growth compared to laptops. Within the next 5-10 years, there will be almost same number of laptops as desktop PCs. It seems that Intel is ahead in the laptop field. Intel is directly involved in this field with its classmate PC. Intel is also keen to develop inexpensive processors for Netbooks. AMD has largely neglected this market until now, but it is going to be changed from now. Notebooks.com has reported that AMD is going to announce Netbook processors tomorrow. I just hope that it does not become too little too late for the company.
