Dell quietly has released its two Premium Studio XPS 1640 and Studio XPS 1340 laptops and they are available for purchase at Dell website. Weirdly, the both 13.3-inch 1340 and 16-inch 1640 laptops start at $1199.
Both laptops have a modern stylish looking- full black interior and exterior laptops with glossy finish and aluminum accents on lid and edges plus backlit keyboards and touchpads help the interior looks more glossy, too.
The striking features of Studio XPS 1340 and Studio XPS 1640 laptops include:
- Built-in optical drive
- HDMI
- Optional LED-backlit 13.3-inch WXGA for Studio XPS 1340
-Intel Core 2 Due processors up to T9600 (6MB cache/2.8GHz/1066Mhz FSB) for XPS 1640 and up to P9500 (6MB cache/2.53GHz/1066Mhz FSB) for XPS 1340
- 4GB DDR3 of RAM Standard or by default; for 1640 you will have max up to 8GB DDR3 of RAM
- 320GB 7200 RPM SATA Hard Drive (as default) and 500GB 5400 RPM or 128GB SSD for options
-Blu-Ray Combo option for XPS 1640
- Wi-Fi 802.11n
- Option for Mobile Broadband connectivity and Bluetooth
Oddly, after I did a search about this laptop in Dell website I came across a web page that states “The Dell Studio XPS 1640 may fail to enter the operating system (OS) and display a No operating system error. Updating the BIOS to the latest version available will resolve this issue.”
You can download the latest BIOS version from here.
