It is easy to be enthusiastic with the latest and greatest in laptop technology (such as large capacity solid state drives, quad-core CPU's, and Blu-ray), but some of the more mundane aspects of mobile computers that we use every day (and often as a matter of course) were once considered cutting edge. Even the ubiquitous touchpad did not exist in the early days of notebooks.
