Professional gamers always wish to use their computers’ NVIDIA graphics cards in SLI mode with their Intel motherboard, but they can not usually use Intel motherboards and SLI together. Rather, Intel chipset fits with ATI graphics. The reason is very simple. Nvidia has imposed motherboard makers to use its nForce 200 chip for adding SLI support.

But this tradition seems to change for a while. Nvidia has announced that mere Intel’s X58 MotherBoard will get support for SLI without supplying the nForce 200 chip.

In this way, the motherboard will offer only dual x16 slots or one x16 and two x8 slots.

X58 is the motherboard will be used for Nehalem platform or Core i7 in desktop PCs.

Thus, the professional gamers who require full bandwidth will have to deploy the nForce 200 chip, anyway. With the nForce 200 chip the motherboard will be able to provide the full x16 bandwidth across three slots.
