I am a bit confused to see that all of a sudden many people are talking about an early release of Windows 7. To be honest with you, I think that these early days for Windows Vista. Many people still use Windows XP. Most probably, Microsoft bosses think that an update is necessary to keep up with the expectations of the users. Well, Internet is changing everything rapidly and the users have much more expectations from OS than past. Most people in the world still use Windows OS and this is perhaps one area that Google or anyone could not dent on the market share of Microsoft yet. So, I am a bit surprised that Microsoft is on a hurry for bringing Windows 7 earlier than expected. Ed Bott is not surprised about this date but he has put an important question:
If the June date is accurate, isn’t that an awfully compressed beta cycle?
Yes, I agree with him. I cannot understand the justification of having such a short time for beta testing. I remember that many users were not happy with Windows Vista release at first. I hope that Microsoft team know what they are doing. It is not like the good old days for the software companies anymore. Now, because of Internet users can easily share their experience with each other. In fact, bad news runs faster than Internet now. It happened for Windows Vista. In the first days of Vista, many websites, forums and blogs said about their problems with Vista. Well, perhaps a classic example of bad launch is Sitemter’s new version that was launched this weekend but Sitemeter had to go back to old system after too many users complained about the new version.
I believe that Microsoft has a professional team looking after Windows 7. The official blog of Windows 7 is keeping us updated about the product.
What is your idea about it?
